FEEDING TIP Changes in your pet’s diet should be made gradually to allow your pet to become accustomed to a new food. Substitute small amounts of the new food for the old food, gradually increasing the amount of the new food while decreasing the old food, over a period of 7 – 10 days. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Rather than pouring food into a bowl, try spreading it out on a baking sheet or 9” x 13” pan. Avoid overeating. Feed three to four small meals per day rather than one larger one as this keeps your cat from eating too much at one time. Feed a uniform diet. Provide a single, complete and balanced cat formula for multiple weeks. A steady diet may help ease your cat’s sensitive system. Create a calm environment. Identify and address factors that could cause distress to your cat, such as frequent loud noises or confrontations with other pets. As always, if dietary upset is associated with other signs of illness, please contact your veterinarian. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean bowl daily.
